Four Parks

(This original proposal was written late winter 2004 and some stuff earlier. I need time to update this but am too busy campaigning. This older version does give you the general idea although I do acknowledge I need to rewrite it from a elected legislators perspective, hoping such will happen)

Although a
short speech introduction is written, to get a fuller flavor of Four Parks please refer to my long speech. After reading this proposal, you may have certain questions. I have written essays on questions with the hope of explaining important topics.

For example, timber companies are a powerful economic influence in the Upper Peninsula, and they must be dealt with in order to create the Four Parks. This includes understanding what
high-grading means. Other timber topics are History: Timber, brief, Loggers and Logging Sites, and Mill relationships.

Also relevant as regards timber companies is the concept of VALUE. To explore this fascinating issue, I have written the
US Steel story, and The CCI Story, and DNR.

Anyone in the know is aware of the critical importance of local citizen support, including financing. This project will fail if not for that support. The very important essays here are:
Munising ways, Governance, Township Revenues, The Buffers, and Burning out.

I’ve including
recreational lands for informational purposes, keeping in mind that knowledge and wisdom is power. This essay is about fragmentation, and a plea to keep the land whole.

An essay on our
Legislators is presented because of a worrisome, deep conflict: the state wants the Yoopers to first propose the Parks, but the Yoopers desire that the state presents the concept first. So, please read about our Legislators, since they determine our form of government.

Finally, I’ve included information about myself. Pertinent essays are
Longing to speak, Why Me and my approach, The Plan.

The next major link, Photos/Maps 4 Pk. (Parks) is at the left with sub-links: UP. Map-Fragmented, Parks Gallery, Huron Park, Two Hearted, and Proposed Parks. I have not had good pictures of the Keweenaw or the Porcupine Mt. areas.
Park Locations does give a verbal comments about all sites.
